The Human Diagnostic Manual
The Human Diagnostic Manual (HDM) aims to provde a system of psychological diagnosis which:
- Acknowledges the dynamic biopsychosocial interaction.
- Acknowledges the normality of dysfunctional psychological processes
- Directs treatments that encourage human diversity and wellness
- Does not marginalise disadvantaged groups
- Is applicable to all cultures
- Is based on scientific knowledge
- Is not based on assumptions that undermine the purpose of the manual
- Is not vulnerable to political or economic influence
- Is easy to use
- Is freely available
